« Live as if you die tomorrow; learn as if you live forever» Mahatma Ghandi
Karim Benlaayouni, 41 years old, father of an eleven year old son Walid and a 3 year old daughter Inass. I have been teaching English as a foreign language since 1997. English in Morocco comes in the third position language as Arabic is the native language and French or Spanish is the second language.
My teaching experience has been broadened through various professional development training. From 2004 to 2006, I enrolled in a teacher training course in Japan through Mombukagakusho Scholarship in the University of Education in Osaka. I have worked on the integration of technology in English As A Foreign Classes ( EFL) in a blended way based on the convection that technology can never replace face to face interaction in EFL context. Currently, I am participating as a fellow for the International Leaders in Education Program through the International Research and Exchange Board ( IREX ) through the funding of the US Department of State. The professional development module that I am currently working on is about leadership in education and the importance of integrating the community and school to reach quality education. Participating in these types of trainings helps me in my personal and professional growth and development to better serve my students and country Morocco.
